Frequency Stability of AC/DC Interconnected Power Systems with Wind Energy Using Arithmetic Optimization Algorithm-Based Fuzzy-PID Controller

This article proposes an intelligent control strategy to enhance the frequency dynamic performance of interconnected multi-source power systems composing thermal, hydro, and gas plants high penetration level wind energy. The proposed is based on a combination fuzzy logic with proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller overcome PID limitations during abnormal conditions. Moreover, newly adopted optimization technique namely Arithmetic algorithm (AOA) fine-tune fuzzy-PID disadvantages conventional heuristic techniques (i.e., long time in estimating parameters-slow convergence curves). Furthermore, effect voltage direct current link taken into account studied system eliminate AC transmission frequent tripping oscillations large systems–high fault current). analysis confirms superiority AOA compared hybrid local unimodal sampling teaching learning-based (TLBO) terms minimum objective function value overshoots undershoots oscillation measurement. Also, AOA’s proficiency has been verified over several other powerful techniques; differential evolution, TLBO using controller. simulation results ensure effectiveness robustness achieving better under contingencies; different load variations, power, uncertainties literature controllers adjusting by various techniques.
